Ingredients
Cake Batter:

1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
Pink or blue food coloring (gel-based for vibrant color)

Frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

Instructions
Prepare the Cake Batter:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth.
Color the Batter:
Divide the batter into two bowls. Add pink or blue food coloring to one portion (or all if making layered cakes). Mix until evenly colored.
Bake the Cake:
Pour the colored batter into the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cakes cool completely before assembling.
Assemble the Cake:
If making a piñata-style cake, cut a hole in the center of one layer and fill it with candy or sprinkles.
Stack the layers with frosting in between.
Frost the Cake:
Cover the entire cake with neutral-colored frosting to hide the surprise inside. Decorate with baby-themed toppers (e.g., question marks, baby shoes).
